In the meantime, today's first item concerns the intertwining of two seemingly parallel universes -- beauty and religion.
Yesterday, supermodel Gisele Bundchen attacked Catholicism's emphasis on virginity, claiming "no one is a virgin when they get married." She was especially critical of the church's stand against contraception and abortion, this article notes.
On the same day, I learned about Virtue, billed as "the world's first spiritual perfume." Wait...it gets better. Called "Scent from the Bible," all its fragrance elements are drawn from Biblical text. The goal? To remind each fragrance wearer of her "Spiritual Self" and God. The product's Web site notes, "Spray your wrist(s) and prepare yourself to begin a spiritual practice that you are familiar with; prayer, meditation, contemplation, etc."
So, um, I'm guessing it's not an aphrodesiac...
